The Membership
Committee meeting held prior to the commencement of the August Cabinet Meeting
spent most of the time discussing in general terms the “Great Heart for Service”
team that had been put together under the direction of District Governor John
and being driven by Lions Phil Nathan and Nick Grant.
The idea was to bring attention to clubs of the need to generate new
members and give some ideas on how this might be achieved.
At the time the committee were unable to go into specific details since
the final construction of the team and the format upon which the presentation
would be based had not been finalised.
In any event the work of this group would not be in place of the work of
the Membership Committee members but would be to supplement it.
Since then a meeting to launch the project was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel on the A14 at Ipswich, Orwell on the 30th August and attracted a full house from a variety of clubs across the District. The evening comprised of a series of mini presentations on various topics and specific opportunities that could present the potential for new members, details of the areas covered are shown in the Grow EA document attached (this is in PDF format so you will need adobe Reader to view, this free from www.adobe.com )
These mini
presentations were also supplemented with other presentations on New Century
Clubs, Campus Clubs, Cultural Clubs and a variety of matters relative to
Membership Retention. There was also a good opportunity for questions and
answers.
Also below are
list of “expectations” of members, both new and old, some of these are obvious,
some more thought provoking. This
list was compiled at the District Members Day held earlier in the year and is
worthy of all Lions considering.
