Bungay Lions Savoury Bake Off

Saturday November 12th sees the start of another brand new event from the Bungay Area Lions Club taking place at the Royal British Legion Club in Priory Lane, Bungay between 11.00am and 2.00pm. This a dual event and an opportunity for both the avid amateur baker, and professional business to show their skills in the kitchen and be sampled by the public.
The amateurs will provide tasters of their products in a competition (Free to enter) of eight savoury categories (entrants may choose as many categories as they like to enter in) and also provide a raffle prize of their goods at the end of the event. Their goods will be judged by local dignitaries and certificates will be awarded to the 1st, and 2nd, winners of each category.
The professionals will be local businesses and shops from the area and will produce tasters of their goods from the same eight categories and also have the opportunity to give away discount vouchers or sell their goods. They too will provide some of their food for the raffle prize at the end of the event.
Entrance to the event will be via a raffle ticket (adults £2 and children £1 (Children 12 and under) purchased on the door. Entrants will then be able to sample free any of the tasters on offer. Their ticket will then double up as an entry into the raffle event to win a prize. Profits from this event will be donated to the Falcon Meadow Community Trust in Bungay for all to benefit from.
The eight categories are; - Sausage rolls, Pies and Pasties, Savoury Scones, Pizza, Quiche, Cheese Straws, Bread Products and Wild Card (for any other type of savoury not in the other categories).
If you would like to enter into the competition as an amateur or a business wishing to promote their goods or would like more details, please call Karl or Tracy on 01986 469194 or Michael and Jane on 01986 892381 Or download this flyer.

Classic Vehicle Rally & Country Fayre 2015

After a damp start which didn't deter the Lions or exhibitors the day soon brightened up. Everyone who came seemed to have a good time and all the planned events and entertainment went smoothly. Thank you to everyone involved including stall holders, caterers, exhibitors and Lions from many clubs including Bungay for putting on a brave face and making the day another success.

Message In A Bottle

Bungay Lions volunteers gave out around 300 messages in a bottle to people having their flu vaccinations at Bungay Medical Practice on 11th & 25th October.
The Message in a Bottle scheme enables emergency services to gain easy access to a person's medical information in the event of a call-out. The bottles contain a form for people to fill in their medical information, along with two stickers which are placed on the inside of the front door and on the fridge, where the bottle should be kept.

St John Ambulance Cheque Presentation

The Bungay Lions Classic Vehicle Rally and Country Fair held at Earsham Hall on the 4th May was very successful indeed and made a profit of £7,500 for Lions charitable funds. On the day there were 385 classic vehicles on display and 3100 paying visitors passed through the gates. At the event, there was also an early outing for the new St John Ambulance Mobile Treatment Centre, but at that time the conversion from a minibus to a self contained treatment unit was incomplete.
Bungay Lions chose this project as a major beneficiary of the proceeds and funded the complete conversion. Whilst the unit was attending the Bungay Street Fair on the 13th July, David Lewis (Bungay Lions outgoing President) handed over a cheque for £4000 to Tony Curd (SJA District Manager-Central Anglia) and his team.

Classic Vehicle Rally & Country Fayre 2014

The Classic Vehicle Rally & Country Fayre 2014 was another tremendous success, with more exhibitors, stalls and visitors than last year.
Bungay Area Lions Club would like to thank all who helped make the event happen, and we hope to hold a similar event in 2015.

With the number of photos that were taken it is impossible to post them all here, but they are available via our facebook page.

The Eastern Daily Press also did a great article for us and it can be found here.

Tabard Presentation

On Wednesday 15th January, members of Bungay Area Lions Club visited Broome & Ditchingham Playgroup to donate hi-visibility tabards. This is part of an on-going initiative by Bungay Lions, who have already provided tabards for the Beehive Nursery, Bungay Primary School, St Edmund's Catholic School and Ditchingham Primary School.
