All

This weeks news and other notices.

Firstly from District Communications Officer

The District website has been updated to reflect DG George coming into office, so please look at the site, so you know who is doing what this year.  Also all District officers have generic email accounts, so for example, DG George can be reached on DG@lions105ea.com.  To stop these being spammed, if you wish a full copy please drop me a line, thanks

Dear District Governors,

Welcome back home and we hope Bangkok was a great experience for you.

We have been contacted by the producers of the  "Shipwrecked" programme on TV Channel 4 inviting  Lions Club members to apply to take part in the next TV series later this summer.

Applications will be welcome from any Lion/Lioness/Leo aged between 18 and 26, particularly those with fund raising experience and who are available to take part in the programme from late August through to December. Those accepted will be "shipwrecked" on the idyllic Cook Islands and "have the experience of a lifetime learning to build accommodation Cook Island style and work as a team which would benefit from their resourcefulness and ideas".

Contact for more information or applications before 27th July at helen.orton@rdfmedia.com

We will be grateful if you will kindly forward to your Lions, Lioness and Leo Clubs.

Issue 12 will be the Royal Norfolk Show issue, additional copies sent direct to David Pye for the show on July 1st  & 2nd , 2009.

(These dates will allow the editor time to publish & approve proofs and so that  sufficient time is available for printer queries without reference to a particular cut off date to the Printer – the only date that is important to remember is the one listed above..)

Could the District Governor arrange for his 6 week Event Diary to be included with his Monthly news letter.   The Diary should include all District events, Charter invitations and club visits he is aware of from the 1st of the month following the Issue deadline date for the following 6 weeks.   His letter should be gauged to around 400 words (this is 340) – New Members joining the previous month will be added but will, unless there are extreme circumstances, be those listed in the Administration Officers Monthly submission.   In other words clubs reporting direct to the editor regarding new members will not necessarily see said members in the New members list in the issue their article appears.- but subsequently when processed by Lion John Fox

Copy can be sent by mail or @mail  - photographs should be commercial print quality i.e.  300dpi or more   -  if posted and materials are required to be returned a stamped addressed envelope is requested..
