DGs Lady's Appeal

I have spent much of the last year making lists of Charities and “causes” for my appeal, short listing then adding more, then short listing and so it went on.  Realisation then set in that times were probably going to be difficult with the present economic climate, and I do not want to put any more pressure on our clubs who already work so hard fund raising carrying out service activities; I also know that many clubs prefer to support local organisations.  On went the thinking cap again.  “We Serve” is our motto, so for my year I would like clubs to do just that – whether it be fund raising for a specific project/ individual / organisation or working and giving your time to help individuals or a project or organisation/ charity.

All clubs know their communities and local organisations / projects and also know about Lions International Projects (or can find out from our specialist officers).  This year I would like clubs to decide on their own project or fund raising activity – I would just like you to tell me about it, send photos or whatever so that I can make a scrapbook for myself and the district and share these activities with everyone.  There will be many projects / individuals in your areas all needing help – you know those projects / people the best, but please don’t forget our own family of Lions, we are all very good helping others and sometimes do not see those closest to us who need help.  Different clubs have different ideas and goals, I just ask you all to follow your hearts and keep doing the amazing things that Lions do naturally.  I hope everyone understands and will support this decision; just go out there, enjoy yourselves, have fun serving your community, but please tell me about it!  Remember lets talk and serve together with love and understanding.
