Convention Weekend 2012

Park Inn Palace, Southend on Sea

Run By The Clubs of Zone 5b Led by Southend-on-Sea Lions Club

Why Come to the 2012 Convention at Southend?

This convention is at the newly refurbished Palace Hotel for the first time, many will have seen this building on the Park Inn advertisements on the Television.

The town of Southend is a traditional British seaside town and as such has a very impressive array of facilities.  It also has a splendid shopping centre and a very good modern shopping precinct. The hotel itself is easy walking distance to the sea and most of the seaside facilities; it also gives easy access to the town centre by bus or on foot and a major modern precinct with an impressive range of shops and restaurants literally across the road.

Access to Southend, by car, train and bus from the rest of East Anglia, is all excellent. Arrangements have been made with the council to enable parking in the 'Sea View' car park for £5 for 24 hours over the weekend.

Hotel Facilities

The stunning Edwardian hotel has been sympathetically restored to create137 rooms with a quite delightful restaurant/ bar area on the first floor with panoramic views of the sea. The Palace Hotel has been leased by Park Inns of which there are 100 worldwide.

The hotel has an impressive first floor conference suite with a main ballroom which will take up to 300 people sitting in theatre format and 210 when dining formally.  The bedrooms have all been upgraded to a very high standard and have new en suite shower rooms, all of them are very light and many have sea views.

The location of the hotel puts it at the edge of Southend’s bustling shopping centre with a wide range of shops and other facilities. There is also very easy access to the sea front which is less than 200 yards away from the hotel.
